Are they taking this outta my financial aid?

This school i'm about to attend won't let me buy there gear i.e school t-shirt (with the school name) and hats,mug, etc off my my financial aid only cash. However they sent me a postcard in the mail saying turn this into them to receive a free school t-shirt and hat after i pick up my school books. I went yesterday and i forgot to them them the postcard with my name and address on it but if i did do you think they are slick and would have deducted the cost of the hat and tee off of my aid and have me thinking it was free? Think about it!
